Gibson launches new Jimi inspired Firebird

NASHVILLE, TN – Gibson unveils two new models in their True Historic Series. Gibson’s Custom Shop has been crafting very limited edition recreations of some of their iconic artist related models - such as Pete Townsend’s numbered LP deluxe and Peter Frampton’s black LP Custom - for some years in their True Historic Series. Two new models are set to be launched in mid-2017. The first is the Jimi Hendrix ‘Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire(bird)’. From Gibson’s website: “Everyone knows that Jimi owned a Gibson Flying V and played it once for around 10 minutes. Fortunately, someone took a photograph of that beautiful moment and we have been flogging that for the last 20 or so years. PETALUMA, CA – Mesa Boogie has stunned the amp world by entering the world of modelling.  “Everyone knows we are the pioneers of boutique hot-rodded amplification, “states founder Randall Smith. “But for years these modelling companies have been ripping us off. It was time to turn the tables.” Mesa Boogie's foray into modelling comes with a unique twist. Whilst companies like Line 6 use sophisticated computer algorithms to emulate the sound and feel of tube amplifiers, Smith and his R & D team have been using hand-wired tube circuits to replicate the sterile feel and one dimension feel of modellers. “We found a beat up Line 6 Spider II that became our benchmark for modelling tone and feel, or let’s be honest here – lack thereof,” explains Smith. “It took around two years and $3.3 million to nail, but just last week Doug West gave me the thumbs up – it was a magical moment”. After years of seeing amplifiers with a ‘R-fier’ or ‘Messy Booger’ channel, Smith fou

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Fender Custom Shop is celebrating 30 years by opening a new division: The Fender Custom Custom Shop. “Starting a custom shop in 1987 was groundbreaking,” states Fender representative Harvey Cooper. “But let’s face it, even Hondo has a custom shop these days. It was time to up the ante”. Fender’s Custom Custom Shop will take models developed by the Custom Shop and give them exclusive Custom Custom Shop treatment. And while Fender’s Custom Shop has long boasted Master Builders, the Custom Custom Shop will be the first in the world to employ Master Master Builders. “Our first Custom Custom was based on a ’64 Custom Shop Strat with a heavy relic sunburst finish”, explains Cooper. “Our Custom Custom Shop team repaired the damage caused by the Custom Shop relicing process and refinished the guitar in a nifty Seafoam Green”. Other planned models are based on vintage Fenders defaced in the 1980s with Floyd Rose bridges and single humbucker scratchplat
